A number that precisely identifies each bank account. It consists of twenty digits divided into four groups: the first is four digits and identifies the financial institution; the second, also four digits, the branch where the account is registered; the third consists of two control digits, and the last ten digits indicate the account number. This code is being replaced by the International Bank Account Number (IBAN).
